Title: Ausencia. Element number two of Terre Illustrée Folding Screen Collection.
Concept: In this work, I wanted to illustrate emptiness, the absence of information, with a minimal composition of matter in the form of threads where that information would have been located. The screen format fulfils its function as a space divider, more to indicate a direction than to conceal from the observer’s view.
Art: And in that absence of something that once was, the passage of time is etched into the matter. The cotton threads have been dyed with iron oxide, while the frame to which the threads are sewn is made of iroko wood sheets, the gaps filled with resin and charcoal. The outer frame is made of recycled tongue-and-groove pine slats, patinated with charcoal encaustic. Everything is finished with a coat of polished wax.
The hinges are not recessed because the triptych can be disassembled to rearrange it in the space, and the hinge marks would be unsightly. They can be recessed upon request at no extra cost.
Price: €1,200 without packaging.
Piece on display at KSGallery (Costa Brava).
